Members of Parliament representing Uganda have performed well today in athletics registering most wins at the ongoing Sheikh Amri Abeid Memorial Stadium in Arusha games.
MP Louis Mbwatekamwa won the 1,500m and 200m men races. MP Phiona Nyamutoro has also prevailed in the 200m race (ladies), among other significant wins and Mityana municipality MP Francis Zaake also won in the 100m men.
Mr Asumani Basalirwa the Head and Chairperson of Parliament of Uganda sports club and head of all games, “Tag of war that involve rope puling for female MPs we lost most of them but got a draw in four rounds.”
The MPs took part in athletes such as, 400M Women (Staff), 400M Men (Staff), 400M Women (MPs), 400M Men (MP), 100M Women (Staff) 100M Men (Staff), 100M Women ( MPs) and 100M Men (MPs).
The other games were 1500M Women (MPs), 1500M Men (MPs), 200M Women (MPs) and 200M Men (MPs).
The games of tug of war were; Uganda vs Tanzania (WToW 3), Uganda vs EALA (WToW 5), Zanzibar vs Uganda ( WToW 7), Kenya vs Uganda (WToW 11)and S. Sudan vs Uganda (WToW 15).
MP Nkunyingi Muwada said in an interview with this website that the performance was better in athletics than the other games.
“We won all athletics races for staff, won most MP races actually we lost only 2 races to Kenya, one for male staff members, one for female. Though we were number two in all those we dint lead. The rest of all athletic races have all been won by Uganda,” Hon.Muwada Nkunyinji
