Moroto Prisons are mourning one of their own gunned down by unknown assailants. Peter Kiplangat met his death around 1: 00 am on Friday morning in Kampswahili Chin in Moroto Municipality.
David Charles Opio, the Mt. Moroto Regional Prisons Commander described the killing as highly regrettable, especially after curfew time.
A prisons Officer told URN on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to speak to the media that they are deeply saddened by the killing of one of their own.
“It’s unfortunate to lose a colleague in such a manner,” he said.
The Mt. Moroto Regional Police Spokesperson, Michael Longole confirmed the killing, says that police have commenced investigations, adding that they have got some clues on what could have happened.
The death of the Prisons Officer by shooting is one of the recent targeted killings in Moroto in region. Last year, warriors shot and injured a prison warden in Kotido district.
