Three traders from Amuria district have been confirmed dead and others admitted in critical condition after an accident along Soroti- Moroto Road. The deceased have been identified as Sarah Akino, Joseph Okello and Margret Alebo- all residents of Amuria district.
The accident occurred at Kasile Village, Iriiri Sub County in Napak district at the early hours of Tuesday when the green Canter lorry Reg. No. UBA 005U overturned on its way to Moroto.
Mike Longole, the Acting Mt. Moroto Regional Police Spokesman says the traders were taking cassava flour to Moroto when the headlamp lights went off, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle which overturned near the orange orchard in Iriiri.
Longole adds that the driver of the vehicle is on the run while five other occupants were rushed to Matany Hospital on critical condition.
Longole added that postmortem examinations are being conducted on the deceased traders as they commence investigations into the accident. The Police are also hunting for the driver whose details have not yet been established by the time of writing the story.
