A 24-year-old woman who was abducted from Hoima city has been found dumped in Kyankwanzi district.
The victim is Doreen Atugonza, a resident of Kyarwabuyamba cell in Hoima East division Hoima city. It is alleged that yet unidentified assailants grabbed her from Kyarwabuyamba on February 11,2022 at around 7:30 p.m as she stood by the road side.
The assailants reportedly tied her face and dragged her into a waiting car before they drove off to an unknown destination.
They later called Jackson Magezi who is Atugonza’s father demanding for a ransom in order to set his daughter free. They also warned the father never to report the matter to police.
However, Magezi went ahead and reported a case of abduction at Hoima central police station.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson told Uganda Radio Network on Tuesday that after a case of abduction was reported at the Hoima city central police station, they dispatched a team of flying squad operatives that started tracking the suspects.
After realizing that they were being tracked by police, the assailants on Monday night dumped their victim near Katanabirwa trading center in Kyankwanzi district.
Area residents discovered the victim stranded and took her to Kyankwanzi police who later alerted Hoima police.
According to Hakiza, detectives from Hoima city central police station together with the victim’s relatives rushed to Kyankwanzi from where they picked the victim.
According to Hakiza, the victim was found in good health though she was traumatized adding that she has finally been re-united with the family members.
Jackson Magezi, the victim’s father has expressed happiness after his daughter has been found alive.
