The World Health Organization‘s Africa office said in a statement that the case was of the rare Sudan strain after Uganda’s Ministry of Health investigated six suspicious deaths in the district this month.
“There are currently eight suspected cases who are receiving care in a health facility,” WHO Africa said, adding it was helping Uganda’s health authorities with their investigation and deploying staff to the affected area tweeting;
“This is the first time in more than a decade that #Uganda is recording the Ebola-Sudan strain. @WHO is working closely with the Ugandan @MinofHealthUG authorities to investigate the source for a prompt response.”
