WhatsApp, the popular instant messaging app owned by Meta has shut down worldwide.
WhatsApp users in Uganda are currently unable to send and receive messages.
The outage is affecting both personal chats as well as group chats. It currently seems impossible to send a message on WhatsApp groups, but personal chats also seem to be largely affected.

In October 2021, the last time whatsapp shutdown worldwide, meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg who also owns Whatsapp’s personal wealth went down as he lost nearly USD 7 billion in a few hours.
According to a Bloomberg report, Zuckerberg also slipped to the 5th spot in the billionaires’ list after Facebook stocks plunged due to the global outage. Zuckerberg, with a total wealth of USD 121.6 billion, has fallen behind Bill Gates.
