Swimming is among the over twenty games that Eastern Africa Universities are competing in, at the 12th edition and today has been the climax of the bit.
The end has been marked by the awarding ceremony where Ms Najjuma Rashida from Ndejje University won 20 medals, 18 gold and 2 silver.
“I am really happy it has been two long days but now I am a happy girl… It’s all about hard work, resilient, training and dedication that has enabled me achieve this.” said medalist Najjuma.
Najjuma 3rd year master’s degree student in Education Planning said after the ceremony that she is eyeing the national team and later joining the coaching fraternity.
Mr Latif Kajjubi Ndejje University swimming coach said, “I met Rashida at Jakaranda when she had come for swimming as her hobby and I told her about the competitive swimming in which she got interested and I brought her to Ndejje for a bursary and am extremely happy she has delivered.”
The total medal tally for swimming is as follow:
Ndejje University (UGA); 26 gold, 11 silver, 5 Bronze, Makerere university (UGA) 4 gold, 8 silver 5 bronze
Makerere business school (UGA); 9 gold, 3 silver and 11 bronze.
Makerere University Swim team: 5 gold, 10 silver, 8 bronze
Kenyatta University; 1 gold, 12 silver, 14 bronze
Kyambogo University; 1 gold, 3 silver,3 bronze
Maseno University; 1 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze
