National Unity Platform (NUP) president Kyagulanyi Sentamu Robert Also known as Bobi wine has suspended 5 of his top leaders over in-fighting.
The revelations were made in a statement released through the office of the party Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya.
“Over the past few months there have been squabbles ,in fights and division between some of our leaders in Busoga sub region.These divisions have grossly damaged the party image and threatened cohesion amoungst our members and supporters “ David Lewis Rubongoya said.
”The divisions have been aggravated by several leaders through their communication on various media houses and social media platforms.This goes contrary to the obligations of members and leaders within our party as stipulated in article5.3(b) of our party of our constitution which requires all members to conduct themselves in a manner that does not bring disrepute to the name of the party” he added.
The party has tried to solve these issues but all in vain. The party president Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert has suspended the following from their respective offices effective immediately as the party’s committee conducts an investigation into the matter.
The suspended are;
- Mr.Bigirwa Moses – Deputy Secretary for mobilization Eastern region
- Mr.Muwanguzi Andrew – Ag head patriotism and ideology
- Mr.Bamu Lulenzi – Cordinator Busoga sub region
- Mr Mukuve Ayagalaki Jamal-Ag coordinator Busoga sub region
- Mr.Nsongaki Saul -Ag district Chairperson Jinja city
Rubongoya says the above mentioned are not allowed to carry out any functions of their offices or represent the party on any platform and in any capacity.
The committee mandated to investigate these is chaired by Jolly Mugisha, Butambala woman MP Aisha Kabanda as Vice chairperson, Mr Kanabi (member), Mr William Odinga Balikudembe(member) and Mr Kassim Fatumah.
The party says the 5 will be accorded the right to be heard in the committee sitings.
