Uganda Cranes and KCCA forward Rogers Mato wins the Sportive/ Assist of the month of March award from the Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) at the Imperial Royale Hotel on Monday 3rd April 2024.
This comes shortly after his lonely goal against Tanzania in the total African Cup of Nations qualifiers on the 28th of March 2023 at the Benjamin Mpaka stadium, Tanzania.
The goal did not give the team victory but also brightened Uganda’s chances to qualify for the 2024 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
The other winner of the day was Jacob Kiplimo who was named the March 2023 USPA/Nile Special Sports Personality of the month. The young athlete who won the 16th edition of the New York City Half Marathon in a time of 1:01:31 got heavy backing from a sizeable number of sports journalists at the Imperial Royale Hotel on Monday. Yesterday’s victory was his second in a row, having taken the award in February.Toyota Buffaloes Scrum-half Aaron Tukei won the Promising Talent Award.
For the Sporting Award, the USPA
The Executive voted for Madam Lameck Lily for her contribution to the growth and development of Bodybuilding in Uganda.
Latib Muwonge’s efforts couldn’t go unrecognized after the boxer won the Africa Boxing Union title
The table Tennis team was also commended after the ladies’ National Table Tennis team won silver, and the men’s side bagged a bronze at the ITTF Regional Senior Championship.
