The community of Makokoto has been left in shock as a tragic incident unfolded at the local police post and as one of the officers allegedly fired multiple gunshots into the air before ultimately taking his own life.
Constable Alex Kitiyo, a police officer stationed at Makokoto Police Post committed what they referred to as attempted murder and suicide by shooting that occurred at Makokoto sub county in Kassanda District.
According to Police in Kassanda, they are investigating a tragedy that has befallen Makokoto Police Post, Makokoto SubCounty in Kassanda District where, No,51037 PC Kitiyo Alex fired gun shots and later took his own life.
IP Kakooza John, a 53-year-old male adult and the in-charge of the Makokoto Police Post, provided an account of the events.
According to IP Kakooza, on May 24, 2023, at approximately 5:00 AM, PC Kitiyo Alex, who had worked the day shift on May 23, 2023, returned home to rest. However, he unexpectedly woke up at 5:00 AM the following day and began firing bullets into various parts of his in-charge room at the police post, without uttering a word. Subsequently, PC Kitiyo returned to his home and took his own life by shooting himself.
