Security this morning raided raided the offices of National Unity Platform offices in Kamwokya and the homes of their leaders as they commenssed the confiscication of the red beret among other paraphernalia which they termed to be the militarty stores.
Addressing the press at their offices, party President Mr Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine indicating they are yet to access how much they lost.
“The Military and Police have invaded Kamwokya, our former NUP Office and currently due for opening as our School of Leadership. Each time we see them doing such manner of things, we get to know how panicky the government of Gen Museveni is,” Bobi Wine said.
This morning, several security personnel broke into the NUP offices and spent several hours searching all the rooms. During this time, no one was allowed to access the road without permission and thdey had to show proof that they were not going to interfere with the operation. Access was only granted to those who had been subjected to a thorough body checked by police officers.
Journalists and NUP officials were not permitted access the area as they were held meters away from the gate where police had put the roadblock.
According to eye witnesses Military Police and Uganda Police Force cordoned off the area at around 10 am, broke into the offices and went away with different items including attires, arresting some people (not known yet) and destroying some plants and furniture equipment.
Earlier in the day, Derrick Nyeko ,the MP Makindye East home has also been put under siege by the military and his wife subjected to house arrest as they searched the entire place thoroughly.
“I can’t believe it! Right at this very moment, the military has forcefully invaded my home and subjected my wife to unjust house arrest. They have been searching every corner of the house with great aggression. What in the world is their motive? We are completely in the dark about it,” Nyeko posted on his social media.
Another NUP official, Ms Monica Twashemerweira was raided and many of the machandise which included red berets were conficiated by the police and security agancies.
