President Museveni has appointed new Retired (Rtd)Abbas Byakagaba as the new Assistant Inspector General of Police ( AIGP) replacing Mr. Martins Okoth Ochola after nearly three decades of service.
Mr. Ochola had in March revealed that was longer extending his service in the police and that he wanted to concentrate on his personal affairs.
According to some sources, the president issued communication sighting his new appointment and information passed on to the police structures earlier this month, now AIGP (Rtd) Byakagaba also handed over the office of the Directorate of counter Terrorism after his contract ended.
President is also said to have made other changes including AIGP Kaali Ali Fahdi, who has been the head of the Field Force Unit, has been transferred to the Directorate of Fire Prevention and Rescue Services as the director. He replaces AIGP Josepn Mugisa.
