Following the appointment of Abbas Byakagaba on 28th May, 2024 by the President Museveni to the position of Inspector General of Police to replace the former Okoth Ochola, the current IGP stated that his first role was to find the rightful individuals and deploy them in particular positions to ensure effectiveness in given departmens.
In the morning hours of Monday 1st July, 2024, the resuffle has thus been made and this has affected Metropolitan Kampala, different command positions and deputy directors as seen below;
Fred Enanga, former police spokesperson will nolonger serve as one but instead as the Deputy Director of Interpol and International. A one Rusoke Kituuma, former Rwizi Regional Commander will serve as the new national police spokesperson henceforth and ACP Clare Nabakka will be the deputy spokesperson.
Senior Commissioner of Police (SCP), Stephen Tanui, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander will become the new Deputy Director of the Directorate of Fire Prevention and Rescue Services.
SCP, Sarah Kabwika, commander of Professional Standards Unit (PSU) will head the Humans Resources Management (HRM).
SCP, Elias Kasirabo, commander of the Anti Stock Theft Unit, will be the deputy Director of the Directorate of Human Resource Administration.
Mr. Sulaiman Kirungi , formerly in Department of Duty free will now become Commander of Marine Unit and CP Denis Namuwooza former head of Department of Operations has been appointed to Fire Prevention and Rescue Services to hear a department.
All the above have been clearly vetted and the IGP understands that they will be entirely effective and productive as far as delivering high quality and transparent services are for the betterment of their country.
