The Uganda people’s defence forces has revealed that their officer who shot a traffic policeman after a misunderstanding is on the run.
The force through spokesperson Ronald Kakurungu said they have launched a man hunt and have clues that could help them get the culprit.
An official statement reads in part;
The UPDF has learnt about an incident in which one of our soldiers is suspected to have shot and injured a traffic police officer in Ntinda following a minor road traffic accident in area.
“The suspect is still on the run but a search for him is underway and very useful clues leading to his arrest have already been attained.”

The force further reveals that the shooting was caused by an altercation between the soldier and traffic officer after the UPDF truck he was driving got involved in a road accident.
“Preliminary information indicates that there was a misunderstanding between the traffic officer and the soldier regarding recovery of a millitary vehicle that was involved in the accident. “
“In the process unfortunately, the traffic police officer was shot and injured in the leg. The officer was rushed to Mukago hospital and fortunately he has been stabilized and is out of Danger.“
Kakurungu says they are working with police in the investigations.
UPDF and Uganda Police have also launched joint investigations into the unfortunate incident.
