Five people have been arrested as the Police investigates six separate murder cases in Mityana, Kassanda, Kyankwanzi Districts.

The Wamala Regional Police Spokesperson, Rachel Kawala said that detectives have visited the different scenes where the crimes were committed, collected exhibits and statements from witnesses.

In Mityana, Kawala said that the Police have arrested and detained four people in connection with the murder of William Azuna at Kyesengeze Village, Kiwawu in Malanga Sub County.  Those arrested include the deceased’s in-laws identified as Kahigwa, Semujju Mukasa, Matia Wasswa, and Simon Onenchan.

Kawala said that preliminary findings have revealed that Azuna, 36, was beaten to death.

She said that they are also investigating the murder of 25-year-old William Muwonge, a Shoe vendor and resident of Kansuleti “A” LCI Busimbi Division in Mityana District. She said that preliminary findings show that the deceased while walking from his mother’s home was attacked by unknown people who stabbed him to death.

According to Kawala, one person has been arrested to help in Police investigations, and the killer weapon has not yet been recovered.

In Kassanda District, Kawala said that they are investigating a double murder incident in connection with the death of a 5-year-old Rihanna Namuyombya a resident of Buwejje Trading Centre, Kyato Parish, Mbirizi Sub County in Kassanda District and Arian Senkumba.

It is alleged that Namuyombya was murdered by Senkumba who was also later killed by the mob at Kampindu village Mbirizi sub-county.

She said that the police have arrested Joseph Kabita, who was jointly burning charcoal with the late Senkumba at the time of the incidents.

According to the Police, an unidentified motorcyclist tricked the deceased that her mother had sent him to go with her and pick a bunch of bananas from the garden.

Kawala said that they are also are investigating the murder of a 20-year-old, Loliela Jeremiah Raston who went missing on February 8 from his parents’ home in Kabaale village, Banda sub-county, Kyankwanzi District.
