Police Investigate Two Dubious Murders in Mityana

URN.The Police in Mityana is investigating 2 separate murder incidents where a man was attacked, hacked and his genitals were taken while a 57 year old trader was found dead and her body dumped in garden.

The Police in Mityana District are investigating the dubious circumstances under which 2 people were killed in different incidents.

 In the second incident, a 24-year-old man, Umar Katumba a resident of Kazinga was attacked by unknown people who hacked him in the neck and cut off his genitals. 

  Wamala Region Police Spokesperson, Rachael Kawala confirmed the incidents saying that they are both under investigation as murder cases.    

She said that they have arrested a 47-year-old Rehema Bikomyawo, a resident of Kazinga Village and detained her to help the police in the ongoing investigations into the death of Katumba.   

Kawala said that after cutting off Katumba’s genitals, the assailants set the young man on fire, which was put out by responders who rushed him to Mityana hospital where he was pronounced dead.   

According to the police’s preliminary findings, the deceased was coming from his girlfriend’s home in the early morning hours when he was attacked.   

in the case of Najjuuko, the police said that the deceased trader who a dealer in produce disappeared after leaving her home for work on Monday morning but she did not return and that she was found dead, a day after.   

Kawala said that their preliminary findings have shown that the deceased Najjuuko was raped before she was strangled and then her body was partially burnt. The spokesperson said that the police detectives have collected samples from the deceased which will be sent to experts to assist in the ongoing investigations.

She said that the body has been taken to Mityana hospital morgue for postmortem. 

  Kawala added that the force is working tirelessly to hunt down the culprits and bring them to book as investigations continue.   

She also said that the force rescued a man at Wabigalo Church in Mityana Municipality, from a mob who wanted to lynch him on suspicion of stealing a motorcycle. Kawala explained that the unidentified man was trailed from Kakindu by a group who got him near the church and beat him to coma. Kawala said that the man was rushed to the hospital where he is undergoing treatment investigations continue.
