Rachael Kawala, the Wamala Region Police Spokesperson, says that the retired personnel and or their beneficiaries presented copies of their national identity cards, life certificates, and death certificates for those who are deceased.
Kawala explained that the validation is intended to establish the status and existence of the pensioners as well as their beneficiaries to enable the force to clean up its payroll.
According to Kawala, those pensioners and or their beneficiaries who did not turn up for the validation will be deleted from the pensioners’ payroll.
Last week, the Uganda Police in partnership with the Ministry of Public Service issued a notice to carry out a nationwide census for all pensioners who retired and are on the force’s pension pay roll.
According to the notice, the purpose of the validation exercise was to establish the existence and status of pensioners and bonafide beneficiaries for those pensioners who died and are on the pay roll.
