Kasese District has received 1.2 Billion Shillings for the construction of two community markets under the Agro-Industrialization Local Economic Development-AgriLED Initiative.

The Kasese LCV Chairperson Eliphazi Muhindi says that the construction of community markets will go a long way to attract big buyers and subsequently farmers to start getting better prices for their produce.
He urged leaders in the benefiting sub-counties to ensure that the projects succeed.
“So we request that people should now be thinking of what they will bring into these markets because we anticipate many players from other markets to also be coming in to buy our local produce…” Muhindi said.
Muhindi added that the new markets will boost the implementation of the parish development model.
Evelyn Ithungu, a watermelon dealer in Kimanyamaseke says they are selling in open space and in such a dry season they get to the market when it is close to sunset.
