William Ruto has been announced by the IEBC as the president-elect for Kenya with 7,176,141 votes representing 50.49%.

In his victory speech Ruto stated, “I want to in a very special way say and confess that without God we wouldn’t have been here. My gratitude goes to the people of Kenya, the millions who listened to us and those who turned up to vote for us”
He further thanked the incumbent Uhuru Kenyatta for his support. He said, “I thank my boss, Uhuru Kenyatta who has worked with me. I want to commit that I’ll build on the foundation that Uhuru and I put together and take this country on the another level.
Ruto also thanked the chairman IEBC, Wafula Chebutaki for sharing the results of the election on a public portal where all Kenyans can access them, “We are very proud of Wafula Chebutaki. He put the results of this election on a public portal for all Kenyans to access. That became the game changer in this election.”
He has promised to work hand in hand with the opposition in order to provide oversight to his leadership, “I will work with the opposition to provide oversight to my leadership. I want to promise the people of Kenya whatever way they voted; this will be their government.”
“I want to promise the people of Kenya that I will run an open, transparent, and democratic leadership.”
His main rival Raila Odinga of the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition party got 6,942,930 votes representing 48 percent of the votes cast.
