Kampala Capital City Authority- KCCA FC Head Coach Molly Byekwaso has blamed the 3:1 loss of his club to Arua Hill in the Uganda Premier League on the weaknesses in his defense.
Goals from Isaac Ogwang, Rashid Toha, and Rashid Kawawa were enough to secure a win for Arua Hill on match day two of the Uganda Premier League played on Saturday at Barifa stadium in Arua.
Although KCCA FC pulled a goal back when Bright Vuni headed into his own net, it was not enough to jeopardize Arua Hill’s well-deserved victory. After the game, Byekwaso who had earlier told URN that his side lacked match fitness in their first game, said his defenders failed to organize themselves during set-pieces, which gave their hosts a chance to grab three points.
The tactician said that they had earlier analyzed their opponent’s strongest weapon, which is scoring from aerial balls during set-pieces, but to his surprise, the players failed to put organize themselves on a pitch that cost them.
He further said many of the best players he recruited this season also failed to shine, which cost them. He, however, is optimistic that the players will improve in their next matches.
Arua Hill dominated the opening minutes pressing the visitors and their efforts yielded results 13 minutes later when Isaac Ogwang headed in a well-taken free kick from Rashid Toha, a goal that defined the half-time report.
After the beginning of the second half, Rashid Toha got the second goal with another header when left unmarked in the box before Rashid Kawawa scored the third in the 59th minute. KCCA’s consolation came in the 90th minute when Bright Vuni scored an own goal.
The loss slips KCCA FC to sixth place on the table with three points, while Arua rises to fifth place with three points. Elsewhere in the league registered a 1-0 win against Uganda Revenue Authority- URA FC while BUL FC defeated UPDF FC 3-1.
BUL leads the standings after two games with six points, followed by the newly promoted maroons with four points.
