An 18-year-old pregnant mother of one, resident of Katega village in Kabembe areas trekked over 12kms to CPS Nagalama, Kayunga District where she gave birth to a baby girl at the police clinic, leaving people shocked about what could have happened.
Amina Nabaweesi, gave birth to her baby according to the area police without much difficulty although her aim was to report a neglect case of her husband who vanished in thin air shortly after he realized that she had conceived.
In a press statement released by Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango explains that Nabaweesi travelled on foot for over 12kms to reach the police station where she went into labor.
In the statement, Mr Onyango said that the pregnant woman was spotted by the DPC Simon Syamutsangira who made arrangements for her delivery.
“After delivery, she was safely transported by Police back to her village. The police team also made financial contributions to help support Amina in her post-maternal period since she had no one to take care of her or her born baby,” the statement read in part.
On arrival, she went into labor pains and was seen by the DPC SP Simon Syamutsangira, Crime Intelligence officer and Lab technician holding on a patrol car.
“Arrangements were made and the Health center I/c, a clinical officer who was inside the clinic made her delivery. After attending to her, she was discharged and safely transported by the Police team back to her village. The division management decided to support her financially and materially to have the baby meet basic needs,” in part read the statement.

The police says they have made contributions of Shs91000 and an assortment of clothes were handed over to her at CPS Nagalama Police has since established that her parents abandoned her when she conceived the second child without them knowing the responsible man and she was chased from home.
