Parents,Teachers and students can breathe a sigh of relief as the long awaited awaited 2022 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) results have been officially released by the Education Minister Janet Kataha Museveni.
Releasing the results at State House in Nakasero, the Executive director of Uganda National Examination Board, Daniel Odongo handed over the results to the First Lady noting that overall performance of the candidates was significantly better than that of last year, with a total of 140,617 candidates or about 14.1% passing in Division 1.
English language saw the most improvement in performance with up to 12.2% of the candidates securing Distinctions 1 or 2, compared to 7.2% in the previous year.
Releasing the results at State House in Nakasero, the Executive director of Uganda National Examination Board, Daniel Odongo said a total of 811,810 students sat for the examinations out of the 832,654 who were registered.
Dan Odongo, the UNEB Secretary revealed that the overall performance of the candidates was significantly better than that of last year, with a total of 140,617 candidates or about 14.1% passing in Division 1.

He further revealed that female candidates have performed better than boys in the English language compared to their male counterparts who surfaced above them in the other three subjects (Social Studies, Science and Mathematics.)
The exams which were conducted on 8th and 9thNovember last year, saw a slight increase in the number of registered candidates of from 749,761 in 2021 to 832654. Of these, 51.9 percent of the total registered candidates were females and 48.1 percent were males. Of these, 583,769 were funded under the Universal Primary Education-UPE program, and 249,041 were non-UPE candidates.
Accessing results

The examinations body announced that students will be able to access the results by SMS on their phones or via the internet.
“You can get the 2022 PLE Results for any candidate in a few simple steps.
In your message box, type PLE <space> INDEX NUMBER and send it to 6600.
For example, to check the results of the candidate with index number 654321/001, in your message box, type PLE 654321/001 AND SEND TO 6600.
You will receive an SMS at a cost of UGX 500 per candidate.”
