The territorial police of Madi Okollo district are investigating an incident of murder where one called Lemaku Richard male adult aged 34 years, Madi by tribe, a peasant farmer and resident of Omvuloo village, Oribu Parish, Ofaka Subcounty in Madi Okollo district was murdered by mob action. This occurred on March 5, 2023 at about 2:00am.
” It’s alleged that on the fateful night at around 2:00am, at Omvuloo village, agroup of Seven men went to the home of the deceased, picked and took him to Alamva trading center claiming that he stole two cows belonging to one only called Vitaa. The mob then beat him to death,” SP Angucia Josephine, the territorial police spokesperson said in a statement.
“Upon making report at police, they visited the scene, examined and documented it, recorded relevant statements from witnesses, recovered exhibit of two calves which were found tied on the deceased. They took the body to Nebbi hospital for postmortem. No arrest made yet. Investigations continue under Ofaka Police Post SD reference 01/06/03/2023,” the statement added.
“We continue to urge members to desist from mob justice as the consequences are not only undesirable but also unlawful. We advice them to report such cases to the near by police post for proper investigation and appropriate action,” Ms Angucia said.
