Prime Minister Ms Robinah Nabbanja has revealed that the government has put over a trillion into the Parish Development Model ever since it commenced last year’s February.

According to Nabbanja, sectors, and ministries can’t work alone because at some time ‘T’ one will have to prosper depending on another’s proper execution of duties.

“Let us not look at what goes into the ministry, let us look at what we use, you cannot talk about agriculture without talking about the Ministry of Health, you cannot talk about agriculture without talking about roads because then will they pass the agricultural produce to the market,” Nabbanja elaborated.

She added that they are also starting this campaign in the greater Mubende or sub-region which consists of Mityana, Kasanda, and Mubende districts with particular dates allocated to each of these.

On behalf of the National Resistance Movement, Honorable Godfrey Kiwanda thanked the Prime Minister for such a great initiative saying that it’s something that was even needed yesterday or in the near past.

NRM made a manifesto in 2021 based on economic empowerment however, this time they are focusing on the social-economic transformation for the whole population which as a core principle aimed at by the party, is divided into two as stated by Kiwanda.

“One is economic development and of course economic growth, when we talk about economic development were are talking about the social infrastructures that the government put in place for the people to use and improve their livelihood however, besides that we have the side of economic growth, wealth of the people, people’s pockets,” explained Kiwanda.

Additionally, he emphasized that as a party it’s where they are focusing and making sure that people have money in their pockets through work of their own sweat.

Furthermore, State Minister of Agriculture, animal industry and Fisheries Fred Kyakulaga also applauded Nabbanja for the platform or campaign while confirming that this platform is mal-sectoral and going to enable a number of ministries relevant to the social economic transformation plus national economy to reach out to the masses and educate them on a number of issues.

On the report of Kyakulaga, their side of agriculture, they will use it for key reasons such as to expand the President’s message, convince, guide, and teach Ugandans to wake up from subsistence livestock into the economic one.

“We are targeting a number of people that are involved in agricultural production along the entire chain, starting from the farmers, going to the input dealers, going to the aggregators or call them the off-takers, going to the processors or the value adders and even into the places where the final products are sold,” Kyakulaga said.

The launching will take place for three days, commencing on 18th August 2023, in Mityana at Piyocha Primary School, 19TH August in Kasanda Gaza headquarters, and on that very day in Mubende district at Kasana playground then end from Kyankwanzi district at the district headquarters or Bukwiiri playground on 20th August 2023.
