“I got the beat while I was in Kenya. I set up my mobile studio and recorded it right in the middle of a hotel room during an after-party. With all the buzz around me, I absorbed all that energy and channeled it into the track,” he shared.

Internationally acclaimed Jamaican dancehall artist Konshens has returned to the music scene with a fresh hit, “Shek It,” produced by Costa Rica’s celebrated producer BomboCat. Known for his energetic and captivating performances, Konshens brings back the vibrancy of dancehall with this latest track, which pairs Afro-Latin rhythms with his signature catchy melodies.

The music video, directed by Rizzy, adds a cinematic twist, combining suspense with infectious dance scenes that are sure to captivate fans worldwide.

In his typical dancehall fashion, Konshens brings a hardcore delivery to “Shek It,” a track he describes as a homage to dancehall’s glory days when the genre was synonymous with fun and packed dance floors. Expressing gratitude towards his African fanbase, Konshens said, “Thank you all for showing so much love to me, my genre Dancehall, and Jamaican culture as a whole. The love is mutual, and I hope you enjoy this one! Deep gratitude!”

Konshens’ connection with Africa has been a key influence on his music. The artist revealed that “Shek It” was inspired during a visit to Kenya a year ago.

“I got the beat while I was in Kenya. I set up my mobile studio and recorded it right in the middle of a hotel room during an after-party. With all the buzz around me, I absorbed all that energy and channeled it into the track,” he shared.

This release follows the success of his recent hit “Look Good” and serves as the lead track from his upcoming studio project, slated for release later in 2024.

Over nearly two decades, Konshens has built a diverse and dedicated global fanbase, cementing his status as a dancehall icon. His international hits, including “Bruk Off Yuh Back,” “Turn Me On,” and “Gal a Bubble,” have become anthems that showcase his talent for creating dancehall music that resonates on a global scale. With over 1 billion streams and several tracks surpassing 100 million streams each, Konshens continues to elevate Jamaican music to new heights.

Beyond his musical success, Konshens has had a profound impact on the African music scene, particularly in Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. His performances across these countries have not only entertained but also fostered cultural exchange, strengthening the bond between Caribbean and African music traditions. As anticipation builds for his upcoming album, fans can also look forward to his upcoming tours across the US, Europe, and Africa.

Born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, Konshens (real name Garfield Spence) has been a powerful force in the music industry since his breakout hit “Winner” in 2005. His unique blend of reggae, dancehall, and contemporary urban sounds has earned him a loyal fanbase worldwide. Known for his dynamic style and versatility, Konshens has collaborated with some of the biggest names in music, including Chris Brown, Cardi B, and Sean Paul. Beyond his music, Konshens is committed to philanthropy, using his platform to support various charitable causes in Jamaica and beyond. With his latest release, “Shek It,” Konshens reaffirms his status as a dancehall legend, continuing to push the boundaries of the genre while staying true to his roots.
