Kyambogo University has released the draft examination timetable despite students demanding the release of missing marks.
The examinations are scheduled to start on March 10, 2022, and end on April 10. A section of affected students is missing marks for the last academic year and some semesters.
However even after the students staged a demonstration, the Public Relations officer Reuben Twinomujuni said that the issue of missing marks is not a general problem but just for a few individuals who he claims didn’t do course work perhaps.
Apollo Mugyenzi, a first-year student noted that he cannot evaluate his academic progress due to a lack of marks.
Some of the faculties that have released timetables include the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Education, and the School of Management among others.
Last month, students of Makerere University Business School demonstrated over missing marks, forcing the university administration to postpone the exams until students recovered their marks.
In addition, besides the missing marks, the students have also complained over the delayed release of a road map for elections.
As per the guild constitution, voting should have taken place by March 1, 2022. However, the students’ Electoral Commission which should be overseeing the process has not yet been constituted.
One of the students George Kayima in second-year said that a lot of time has been consumed in indefinite campaigns with cost implications as well.
” Time table for exams is scheduled on March 14, we have a very limited time, we have spent time and money in these campaigns.”
Similar to Kyambogo University, Makerere Business School at the end of last year was forced to postpone examinations when students insisted on being given more time after elections.
Kyambogo University has also had issues with missing marks, especially last year when over 90 students missed graduation.
