Seven hundred and fifty one-751 retired police officers have up to three weeks to present themselves to the police headquarters or risk being deleted from the pension list.
The Police leadership has given the ex-police officers up to March 30th, 2022 to appear before the pension registry to verify their particulars.
Records from the police show that the affected ex-police officers retired between 15 to 33 years ago meaning the youngest is at least over 75 years of age.
Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson, says that they are currently carrying out a verification exercise for all pensioners with emphasis on those over 75 years of age because they are at risk of dying due to advanced age.
He says that they cannot continue disbursing pension to people whom they are not sure are still alive or dead. Enanga urges the police pensioners to submit their life certificates to avoid being deleted from the payroll.
It is reported that many of the police pensioners were last seen at the police headquarters a decade ago. Many others have been sending people to deliver their life certificates, something that has triggered suspicion in the police leadership.
Some of the police pensioners above 92 years include Alibe Onesimo, Alfred Eyumu, John Aliwa Kaptekin, Zarubaberi Abalet, Aloni Ecaat, Lodoviko Okurut, James Magungu, Christopher Lukwago, Vinansio Okello.
Those believed to be 91 years old are Bazil Abura, John Okot, John David Okecho, Martin Babalanda, Enriko Waigo, Severino Oryeda, Juliano Ogwiri, Sabastian Oule, Paul Ewocu, Augustino Odoi, Christopher Wotti and Nelson Onyaiti.
The others are Umar Babumba, Luzindana George Mukasa. The police records show that some of the retirees have never presented their National Identity Cards raising suspicion that they could have before the issuance of the National IDs.
Seventeen of the pensioners are 90 years old, thirteen are 89 years old, twenty are 88 years old, twenty-eight is 87 years old, thirty are 86 years old, thirty-three are 85 years old, fifty-three are 84 years old, forty-two are aged 83, eighty-one retirees are now 82 years old if they are still alive.
