NRM C has approved Thomas Tayebwa as Flag Bearer for the party after all NRM MPs who had expressed interest in the position agreed ‘by consensus’ to step down for him.
Government chief Whip Thomas Tayebwa is the Government Chief Whip and also Member of Parliament for Ruhinda North County in Mitooma District.
Recently, Tayebwa backed out of the Speakership race which he stated in a tweet saying,
“However, i want to inform you that I WILL NOT BE EXPRESSING INTEREST FOR THE POSITION OF SPEAKER OF PARLIAMENT. I call on Honorable colleagues members of Parliament and the nation to remain united as we mourn our fallen hero”
He appreciated his colleagues for endorsing him for the position,
“Thank you colleagues for endorsing me unopposed for Deputy Speaker on NRM ticket”.
Tayebwa will have to step will have to resign as Government Chief Whip before going for the election tomorrow.
