Mukono Municipality Member of Parliament Betty Nambooze Bakireke has asked the chief justice Alphonse Owiny Dollo to apologize to the Kabaka of Buganda for allegations he made in a viral video.
In the video Owiny Dollo said the Kabaka was sent to Germany for treatment in 2021 aboard the presidential jet.
Nambooze who wrote an open letter directly to the CJ said by the Chief Justice alleging that the Kabaka, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II was transported on President Museveni’s jet to Germany, he offended the King and the people of Buganda.
Nambooze writes;
“Dear Chief Justice Owinyi Dolo,
I write this public letter to advise that you must make a public apology and also resign for abusing Office, tribalism and behaving in a manner that is unbecoming of a Chief Justice.
It high time we get to fight impunity…. How can a Chief Justice act with such grave delinquency as depicted in the speech you made at the vigil to mourn the fallen Speaker of Parliament?!
Nambooze also warned against her letter being misunderstood as tribalistic.
Most probably by this letter you are going to further accuse me of persecution of the Acholi by a muganda.

Making false allegations on the person of the Kabaka and the people of Buganda hence Ugandans… with intention that you make him appear bad and therefore invite hate to a cultural leader, a King who for years has demostrated that Uganda belongs to us all….Standing out in an extremely tribalistic manner…

A recent statement written by The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga denied the allegations and made it clear that the Kabaka flew aboard KLM Airlines and not the presidential jet as had been stated by the chief Justice.
