URN.Alfred Nkwasiibwe, the Kyegegwa district traffic officer, has visited both scenes and police has since towed away the vehicles to the police yard pending inspection.
Police in Kyegegwa District are investigating two separate road crashes that left one person dead and six others nursing injuries in Kyegegwa district.
According to Vincent Twesige, the Rwenzori west police spokesperson, the two incidents happened on Sunday evening along the Kampala highway
ASP Twesige says an ambulance registration number UBA142T Nissan model from Kasese community medical Centre was conveying a patient to Mulago hospital when it swerved off the road along the Kyegegwa Mubende section in Katente village at 03.45 pm.
Joseph Mainuka the patient who was being transported to Mulago hospital died on arrival at Kyegegwa district hospital where he had been rushed for first aid treatment, whereas three other occupants in the Ambulance Including Dr Allan Kambale 32 years, Mable Mainuka, 50 and Amon Masereka sustained Slight Injuries and are currently receiving treatment at Kyegegwa hospital.
Another serious incident occurred at Kisambarru Kyegegwa district along the Kyegegwa Kyenjojo highway at around 05pm when a semi-trailer registration number KCJ632M/ZF529 headed to Fort portal carrying salt also crashed leaving three occupants with serious injuries.
The victims were identified as Juma Syid, the 38years driver, Hussein Daria 38, both Kenyans and Godfrey Mumbere, a Ugandan. The three were also rushed to Kyegegwa hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.
