The Electoral Commission has dispatched polling materials that will be used in the Soroti East by-election on Thursday.

Deo Natukunda, the Regional Elections Officer, says that they intend to start distributing the materials early on Thursday morning to all the 63 polling stations before polling kicks off at 7 am.
The materials are being kept at Election Commission offices.
Meanwhile, has been heightened in the city ahead of the polls. There is a visible presence of the Uganda People’s Defense Force- UPDF and the police patrolling parts of the city.
According to the East Kyoga Regional Police Spokesman, Oscar Gregg Ageca, notes that although the campaigns have been peaceful, they don’t want to take any chances on Thursday.
The Soroti East By-election has attracted three candidates. They are Herbert Edmund Ariko of the NRM, Pascal Amuriat of the UPC, and Moses Attan Okia of FDC.
