URN.The Third Deputy Prime Minister Lukia Isanga Nakadama, who represented the government at the burial revealed that the government had injected Shillings 45 million into the burial arrangements. According to Nakadama, Shillings 25 million went to different funeral service providers, and Shillings 20 million was handed to the family in cash.

Alhajji Nsereko Mutumba, the former outspoken Uganda Muslim Supreme Council-UMSC spokesperson has been laid to rest at Mugoongo Kyengera Town Council in Wakiso District. Mutumba, who has been serving as the Kayunga Resident District Commissioner, passed on Wednesday morning after Rubaga Hospital where he was rushed with complications.

Although the cause of his death is yet to be disclosed, Mutumba was rushed to Rubaga hospital after experiencing dizziness and general body weakness followed by abnormal sweating that came as he was having breakfast before heading out for work.

The Third Deputy Prime Minister Lukia Isanga Nakadama, who represented the government at the burial revealed that government had injected Shillings 45 million into the burial arrangements. According to Nakadama, Shillings 25 million went to different funeral service providers, and Shillings 20 million was handed to the family in cash.

She cautioned the family, not to harass the people whom the deceased has left in their care, especially his widows who now have no one to turn to;

Different Muslim clerics led by the Mufti of Uganda His Eminence Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje eulogized the late Mutumba as a great pillar in the Islamic faith and Uganda who fought for unity and development of Muslims. They also described Mutumba as a man who respected leaders but could speak the truth to power without fear or favor.

Sheikh Mubaje, who led Mutumba’s funeral prayers at Gaddafi national mosque told mourners that he met the deceased during his tenure as Kadhi of  Bugisu Muslim District Council where they promised to work together to unite and spur development in the Muslim community. “When we spoke he understood where I wanted Islam to go and he agreed to work with me and never looked back,” the Mufti said.

Amir Kamoga, the leader of the Tabliq Muslim community cautioned the faithful to take the late Mutumba as an example and copy his good trait, and stop backbiting their leaders in faith but instead talk to them when things are not going on well.

Kamoga says that nowadays, people are making it a trend to focus on others, adding that this will cost them heavily as individuals and as the Muslim fraternity in the country.

Mutumba’s body was initially meant for burial at 4 pm, arrived at the burial site at 6:40 pm because of the lengthy postmortem process. Mutumba took over as Kayunga Resident District Commissioner in March this year. He had just returned from 7 days of orientation for the position. He served as the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council spokesperson for 15 years, where he received four extensions after clocking the retirement age.
