The Inter Party Organization for Dialogue (IPOD) has expressed deep concern over the recent altercation within the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), one of its member political parties. In a press statement released yesterday, IPOD condemned the animosity displayed by both factions of the party and called for an immediate resolution through internal dialogue.
IPOD emphasized the critical role of political parties in the nation’s leadership and governance. It as well believes that the current challenges within the FDC have the potential to impact the broader political landscape in Uganda.
“While we acknowledge the issues facing the FDC, we are confident that the party possesses the necessary structures and internal mechanisms to effectively address them,” in part read the statement.
The organization continued to call upon the party’s leadership to handle the matter inclusively, taking into account the concerns of all party members, rather than resorting to public confrontations.
“IPOD will avail itself and remains committed to supporting the leadership of Forum for Democratic Change in its quest to deal with the challenges the party currently experiences in a manner that strengthens the multiparty democracy,” the press release said.
We await to see the terminus of the rifts within the party as FDC will today hold its 16th National Council Meeting at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi in which a report is expected from the Elders Committee, which was established to resolve internal disagreements within the party and promote unity.
