Victoria University has revealed its plans to host a monumental musical battle between two of Uganda’s most prominent music icons, Ambassador Queen Sheebah Karungi and ‘The King Herself’ Cindy Sanyu. The clash of musical titans is set to take place on September 15, 2023, at the Kololo Airstrip.

Prof Lawrence Muganga, Victoria University’s Vice Chancellor confirmed the duel in a  press conference at Victoria University.

“Each of the Artists was contacted individually, after what we saw in the media. Each of them, on their own terms, has accepted the challenge. “The Musical Battle will be held on September 15, 2023, at Kololo Airstrip, the same venue under contention. This will then be considered the Yolo Festival,” Prof Muganga said.

The announcement comes as Victoria University solidifies its commitment to creating a dynamic synergy between art, education, and business, propelling the nation towards a brighter future. With a strong belief in fostering the growth of creative talent and aligning it with meaningful outcomes, the university’s initiative aims to not only showcase the immense talent possessed by these two artists but also to leverage their influence for a positive impact on society.

The decision to host the musical battle was born out of Victoria University’s understanding of the power of music to inspire and unite people. Both Queen Sheebah and Cindy have captured the hearts of millions with their music and their ability to connect with their audiences. The university recognizes that their influence extends beyond entertainment, making them perfect advocates for driving positive change in the nation.

“Come Sept 15th it is our job as Victoria University to bring them on one stage to compete in the same musical battle for Ugandans to decide who is the best; Who is the king! Who is Queen!. That’s when Ugandans will crown them for what they think they are.” Muganga said.

As part of the larger ecosystem created by the university’s collaboration with these artists, the musical battle will coincide with Victoria University’s already-planned events. On September 14, 2023, the university will hold its annual Graduation Ceremony, themed “Future-Proofing Learning for You,” followed by an Inspirational and Business MasterClass featuring the renowned speaker, Vusi Thembekywayo. This combination of events aims to create a holistic experience that empowers individuals to excel in various facets of their lives.
With this unprecedented musical battle and the supporting events, Victoria University reaffirms its commitment to community engagement and development. The university’s involvement in such initiatives demonstrates its dedication to fostering a positive environment for young talents to thrive, thereby contributing to the nation’s progress and development.

The entire nation eagerly awaits the musical showdown between Queen Sheebah and Cindy, The King Herself, as they prepare to witness these incredible artists channel their talents toward a productive and inspiring competition. As the clock counts down to September 15th, the anticipation grows, and Victoria University stands at the forefront, ready to create a memorable event that will shape the cultural landscape of Uganda for years to com
