The Police in Kiruhura have confirmed one person has died on the spot in a head-on collision this morning at Omukyapa Trading Centre along the Kiruhura- Mbarara high way.
The accident happened at around 7:30 Am.
The accident involved a Tausi bus registration number UBK 516S from Ishaka/Mbarara going to Kampala and a Fuso lorry Registration number UBD 193P loaded with Sugar heading to Mbarara.
Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Region Police Spokesperson identifies the driver of the bus as Siraji Ntinfayo who died instantly.
He says the driver of the Fuso managed to escape after the accident.
Kasasira say preliminary investigations show that the Fuso lorry was overtaking a Wish car -not identified – in a corner as the bus came from the opposite side, causing a head-on collision.
This is the second accident to occur in Rwizi region in a period of two days after a Toyota double cabin registration number UAY 304 A belonging to MTN and a red Bajaj boxer registration number UEF 548L were involved in an accident that claimed three lives on Spot in Mbarara district.
