The Acting District Health Officer-DHO for Masindi who was arrested on Monday afternoon for alleged abuse of office has been released on police bond.
Patrick Baguma, was arrested on Monday afternoon from Kihande cell in central division, Masindi Municipality by detectives from Masindi central police station who immediately whisked him to Masindi central police station.
He was arrested on the orders of Rose Kirabira Kobusinge, the Masindi Resident District Commissioner-RDC after several complaints had been put against him in the district.
He is being accused among other things, failure to account for public resources, unauthorized use of government resources, making false statements, insubordination, disregard or breach of laws, regulations and procedures, causing loss of funds to the government, failure to supervise staff, refusal to comply with lawful instructions and above all, failure to comply with performance management requirements.
Baguma is also accused of failing to account for millions of shillings allocated to the district to implement the COVID-19 control measures.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson told us in an interview on Tuesday morning that the DHO was released on police bond on Monday evening after recording a statement with the police.
According to Hakiza, Baguma will report back to the police on Thursday this week for further management of his case.
