Power consumers in Abim district have through their lawyers petitioned Pader and Abim Community Multipurpose Electric Cooperative Society Limited-(PACMECS) to address the intermittent power supply in the district.
In their petition signed by 40 power consumers, the petitioners want all the damaged poles and broken cables fixed. They also want PACMECS to waive off the service fees for the three months they have not had power.
George Owilli Douglas, one of the power consumers from Abim says that they will not hesitate to forcefully evict the staff of PACMECS should they fail to address the issues raised in their petition.
According to Owilli, when they delivered their petition to the PACMECS offices they didn’t find the chairperson but they were received by the engineer Phillip Ocaya, who apologised for errors, saying they will them immediately including availing transformers to Abim SSS and replacing weak poles among others.
However, the PACMECS Board Chairperson, Simon Odoch, says that the power outages in that particular area. He explains that they lack a loader to carry poles to replace the affected poles.
Odoch said they intend to hold a meeting with the affected power consumers to address their concerns. Prior to taking his oath of office, the Abim District LC V Chairperson, Rt. Capt. Yoventine Omara, said that they had opted to replace the company that supplies power to Abim because of poor service delivery.
