Woman, Sons Kill Family Head Over Mobile Phone

Ibanda Police is holding a woman together with her two children over the brutal murder of the family head. The suspects are Fledian Busingye 50, Paul Nuwagaba 22, and Jimmy Mwebaze 23, all residents of Kayenje cell, Nyabuhikye Ward in Bufunda Division in Ibanda Municipality.

Philbert Waibi, the Ibanda District Police Commander, says that the trio is wanted for the murder of Peter Mwebaze 59 alias Abudu, a resident of Kayenje cell. According to Waibi, preliminary police investigations show that the trio ganged up against  Mwebaze on Monday night.

He explains that Busingye assaulted Mwebaze with a huge after he cut in the back with a machete. According to Waibi, the scuffle started when Mwebaze asked Busingye for his mobile phone in vain leading to a fight that sucked in the children.

They sided with their mother and assaulted their father to death. Tibeshumbusha Daudau, the LC I chairperson of Kayenje Cell, says that the family has been experiencing domestic violence. He says Busingye had stopped giving Mwebaze food and other basic accusing him of adultery.

Paul Muhenda, the Officer in Charge of Criminal Investigations at Ibanda Central Police Station, says that Mwebaze and the wife had on several occasions reported cases of domestic wrangles, adding that they had registered 7 cases between the two. He says the deceased registered a case last month seeking police intervention to settle the dispute.

The deceased’s body is lying at Ruhoko health center IV pending an autopsy to aid investigations. This is the second case of murder in the district within one week in Ibanda, Last week, Kenneth Mugabo stabbed to death his brother over a prostitute in Nyabuhikye trading center.
