The jam was on all routes for both in-bound and out-bound traffic following the downpour.
The rain which started at about 3 pm and ended at about 6 pm left many travelers in the city stranded while motorists had to brave up to hours of delay due to heavy traffic gridlock.
For instance, all streets in Industrial Area were a no-go area, with many vehicles stretching for kilometers. Other affected roads were Nsambya, Jinja road traffic lights as well as roads leading to Nakawa and Spear Motors.
Jinja Road was one of the most affected routes since some sections like Lugogo Bypass were also flooded. On Entebbe road, roundabout, and Jinja road, they were flooded making it impassable especially for the small cars.
Along John Babiiha Avenue motorists created various lanes on different parts of the road in a bid to get ahead but instead made the jam worse. Some motorists said that they had been stuck for almost an hour.
At Yusuf Lule road the jam stretched from fairway traffic lights junction up to Jinja Road at Kitgum house junction.
The taxi drivers and Boda Boda cyclists took advantage of the rains to hike the transport fares.
From Nsambya road junction traffic lights up to the clock tower, it was a complete cut-off even boda bodas were stuck in the jam.
