The bodyguard of National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has been produced in court martial at Makindye, charged with spreading harmful propaganda and then remanded to Kitalya until February 13, 2023.
Mr Anthony Agaba aka Bobi Young has been held incommunicado for the last eight days after he was picked by security operatives on Sunday January 22, 2023 around Maya in Wakiso District as he was traveling from Mbarara where he had reportedly gone for Spice Diana’s concert.
Despite the NUP leader and legal teams’ efforts to trace his whereabouts that were in vain on Thursday he was arraigned before Army court chaired by Brig. Gen. Freeman Mugabe who denied him bail.
This is the second time Bobi Young has been arraigned in court martial during the 2021 elections where he was arrested from Kalangala with other more than 50people from the Presidential candidate Kyagulanyi’s campaign team. The team spent over six months in prison on charges of treason.
Over the years we’ve realized that civilians have continued to be arraigned before the military courts which is against the law.
Today 32 NUP supporters who have been incarcerated for close to two years have appeared in the military court. Sanya Muhydin yet again rose up and protested against the detention without trial for over two years. He was strangled and taken away by operatives.
