The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has sacked Kira Municipality Member of Parliament who also doubles as party spokesperson Semuju Nganda from the position of party whip in parliament and immediately replaced him with Mawokota South legislator Mr Yusuf Nsibambi.
In a letter to the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Among, the FDC Secretary General, Hon. Nandala Mafabi, does not divulge the bedrock reason for the drastic changes within the party.
Nsibambi was made in accordance with section 6 (1) of the party’s constitution.
“The Party hereby appoints Hon. Yusuf Nsibambi as the Party Whip of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) to replace Hon Ssenujju Ibrahim Nganda,” Mafabi wrote.
“In the same vein, we hereby withdraw Hon. Ssermujju Ibrahim Nganda as the Party Whip with immediate effect.”
The dismissal comes at a time when FDC is occupied with a great deal of internal fights that escalated when Hon. Semujju Nganda accused the Nandala Mafabi and Amuriat Oboi, of trying to sell the party to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).
He alleged that Nandala and Amuriat brought billions of shillings into the party during the 2021 elections and refused to disclose the source of the money. He said that the money was used to make large purchases, including cars from Cooper Motors, that were used in the 2021 general elections.
