The Butiki League Match Day five on Saturday, the 30th of September 2023 was lit with shear exuberance as teams in their different cohorts showcased dare desire, competitiveness and boldness to win.
Football enthusiasts gathered at Henry’s Sports Center in Kabalagala, a Kampala suburb to witness the thrilling match day that was as the Butiki League’s Season 3 nears end.
Kabalagala was all painted green and white with excitement as players from different cohorts, passionate old boys supporting their respective teams, and football all converged to celebrate the beautiful game of football.
The games kicked off at 11 a.m. with a series of exciting fixtures. Among them, the defending champions, Nyulya FC facing off against a stubborn Bugoma FC and this was the game of the day.
Both sides looked sharp from the first minute but none could find the back of the net and at full-time, it was a stalemate.
Different camps made sure all was well both on the pitch and off the pitch evidenced by the fans who rallied behind them among these are, Guntu FC, Pizza Gaddafi, Oweina FC, Top Layer FC, and O-five FC.
Makaya FC, although struggling in the league, their hitman Derrick Wandera also News 24/7’s General Manager and head of news was on the target against Blue dollar FC which is captained by Mathias Okolimong as the match ended in a two-all draw.
Maintaining the unbeaten streak, the defending champions continued their reign at the top of the league table with 43 points from 15 games. Their lead extended to a commanding 9 points above the second-placed Bugoma F.C. who displayed their prowess with 2 wins and a draw against Nyulya FC.
Unfortunately their hitman and League top scorer Webster was out of action due to illness and the team doctor ruled him out of the day’s squad to focus on recovery however he was on the ground to show full support to the team.
The atmosphere at Henry’s sports Center was evident enough that the Butiki boys missed their League after a break of one month of August.

The Match day was climaxed with a variety night and the boys had to stretch their muscles on the dancing floor.
The Butiki League’s Match Day 5 Season 3 was a success as there is stiff competition in the top 4 with one match day to go.
The Butiki League match day 6 which doubles as the grand finale will take place on Saturday 25th November 2023 at a yet-to-be-announced venue.
