A Prison warder Okori Alfred of Safety and Security Unit has been stabbed to death by his wife Alowo Mercy a fellow police officer attached to Kabalagala Police Station on Sunday 18th, 2024 at about 10pm due to domestic misunderstanding at Prisons Academy and Training School.
This was noted in a statement written by the Senior Commissioner of Prisons and service spokesperson Frank Baine Mayanja yesterday.
The Uganda Prisons spokesperson, Frank Baine indicated that the victim was rushed to Luzira Prisons staff clinic from where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
“The victim was taken to the Luzira Prison staff Clinic where he was pronounced dead and the body was transferred to Mulago Hospital for postmortem,” Baine said.
He added, “The prison security apprehended the culprit and handed her to police for further management,”
According to Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, the police is investigating the circumstances of the incident of the Lance Corporal Wilfred Okori, a prisons officer with his wife.
“The altercation arose from a domestic dispute regarding finances and phone matters, escalating throughout the day. The situation culminated in the suspect, Alowo Mercy, fatally stabbing her husband, Okori Wilfred, as he left for work,” said Luke Owoyesigyire
He noted a murder case has been opened on CRB: 064/2024 as investigations continue.
“ The crime scene was thoroughly examined by specialized teams, witness statements recorded, and the murder weapon, a knife, was recovered.” Owoyesigire said.
