As the fight between Nyendo-Mukungwe MP Mathias Mpuuga and National Unity Platform (NUP) rages one, party President Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has suspended the embattled leader from the position of deputy president of the central region.
In a statement released this afternoon, Bobi Wine attributed party position on what they said that Mr Mpuuga had sat with other commissioners to allocate themselves Shs500m which they say goes against the party core values.
“In accordance with Article 6.3 (h) and 7.1 (e) of the party constitution, I hereby suspend you from the position of deputy president of the National Unity Platform for central region with immediate effect, and accordingly refer the matter to the National Executive Committee for further processing,” in part read the letter.
Mpuuga’s woes started after the online exhibition dubbed £ParliamentExhibition revealed that Mr Mpuuga and other commissioners had pocketed Shs1.7billion which is tax payer’s money.
NUP has insisted that Mpuuga met with the leadership of the party acknowledged the act and apologised but they asked him to step down from his position of commissioner which they say he declined.
During his press conference last week, Mr Mpuuga said that he has not met with Bobi Wine and wanted to have his audience.
In his letter this evening, Bobi Wine says that the leader of Nyendo-Mukungwe had failed dto explain the circumstances around the money.
