Mr Demiano Masesa, Executive Director GPLA noted that Justice Byabakama’s presence and key note address will not only contribute significantly to the success of the summit but also inspire and help setting pace for collaboration that will help shape conversations around the Uganda.
The summit aims at bringing together at least 500 former student leaders from both University and other Institutions of higher learning across the county.
These will be of different generations, who have held students’ Guild leadership positions during their university years, in an attempt of having a unified movement that will contribute to the strengthening of democracy.
The summit thus provides a platform for meaningful dialogue, collaboration and the exchange of ideas and this years’ will be celebrated under the theme Legacy and Leadership Continuum: The Power of Knowledge and Cross-generational Learning
Demiano added that the summit is organized by the GPLA, a prestigious leadership development program designed to ensure the outgoing Guild Presidents from Higher Institutions of learning are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively participates in active elective political and public policy processes
in the national politics, and contribute to the consolidation and strengthening of their democracies.
The vision of the academy is to bring a new generation of politicians into parliament and political party offices
He thus thanked Justice Byabakama for his continued commitment to students and national leadership which was an inspiration to them all, and that they genuinely hoped he could be part of that significant gathering and that they were looking forward to the possibility of having him join them at the summit.
