A school bus carrying students of Fort portal secondary school overturned on Wednesday night injuring 35 students.
According to a statement by the school’s headmaster Katerrega Reagan, the bus driver failed to negotiate a corner at Kitarasa along the fort portal Bundibugyo road.
Kateregga revealed the names of the injured students adding that they are all responding to treatment;
“Thirty five studnts sustained injuries and they were rushed to hospitals i.e Buhinga, Kabarole, and Vine. Out of those only three were in critical condition i.e Kansiime Asumart s.3, Mutalya William s.5 science and Kunihiria Grace s.3 who are responding to medication and are out of theatre.” he said
The headteacher thanked first responders for quickly rushing the children to the hospital;
“ We are grateful for the assistance offered to the parents, doctors, nurses, collegu head teachers, political leaders, the entire Education fraternity, army, police and the public that responded to the emergency”
Initial reports on social media had shown that some of the students had died as a result of the accident, Kateregga denies these reports.
“For further consultations come to school. Disregard any information from the social media” he said

Several bus accidents have been reported across the country in the last one week.
On March 14, a driver and a conductor dies on the spot after a bus belonging to Baby Coach collided with a truck loaded with tomatoes in Luwero District along Kampala-Gulu highway.
On the same day, scores were injured after one of the buses owned by Link Bus Company Services collided with a TX Land Cruiser at Bamusuta along Kampala-Gulu Highway.
