National Unity Platform president Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert also known as Bobi Wine has cautioned leaders about the silence exhibited on the ongoing abductions indicating that it could end up at their doorstep.

“If we continue with this silence people like Jamshid Kavuma will follow the likes of John Bosco Kibalama and others whose whereabouts are still unknown to date,I want to remind you that silence might be the convenient option but that will continue until they come for you or your children,” Bobi Wine told mourners during the burial of Paul Kawangwa Ssemwogere, the

Jamshid Kavuma, one of  Bobi Wine ‘s bodyguards is the latest abduction, who was allegedly abducted by state security operatives 14days ago. After the pressure mounted by the NUP camp, Kavuma was later reportedly rushed to Mulago hospital in critical condition. He was allegedly  picked at Masanafu and whisked away in a drone.

Last month, media reports indicated that there was a reemergence of what many have termed as abductions of people especially from the opposition. NUP said that more than 30 people of their supporters had been abducted in just one month as the wave of arrest that was rampant two years ago resurfaced.

During the burial, Bobi Wine also said that the late narrated to him how the death of Andrew Lutaakome Kayiira occurred, “When I met Dr. Ssemogerere he told me about what  happened when Lutaakome Kayiira was killed. I want you all to go tell  Kaguta Museveni  that I also know  everything, and when the right time comes the world will know the truth.”

Andrew Lutaakome Kayiira was the leader of the Uganda Freedom Movement from 1945 to 1987 a guerrilla organization that fought the governments of Milton Obote and Tito Okello between 1980 and 1986. Kayiira and the UFM were often seen as rivals to the National Resistance Movement  led by Yoweri Kaguta Museveni  which was also fighting a guerrilla war against the Obote and Okello governments. When the NRM took power in 1986, Kayiira was appointed Minister for Energy by Museveni. Later that year, he was arrested for treason but later released. He was murdered by unknown gunmen on 9 March 1987.

The body of former DP president Paul Kawanga Ssemogerere has been laid at his final resting place at Nattale Nkumba Bufulu in Wakiso District .

Paul Kawanga Ssemogerere was a Ugandan politician who was the leader of the Democratic Party(DP) for 25 years, and one of the main players in Ugandan politics until his retirement in 2005.He was born on 11 February 1932 – 18 November 2022(90years)

Leaders led by the Prime minister RH Robinah Nabbanja ,opposition politicians, religious leaders and cultural leaders have graced the ceremony .These have applauded the late for the his humor and leadership skills.

There was a crisis meeting following the widow Germina Namatovu’s remarks rejecting the gun salute as planned by the government, saying her husband hated guns. This was between the prime minister Nabbanja, Gen Katumba Wamala and other security officials from police and the army.

Later 17 gun salutes were accorded in honor of Dr. Paul Kawanga Ssemogerere as a former prime minister. Prime minister Robinah Nabbanja says she is simply a delegate and can’t take any decisions, contrary to the directives.
