Executive co-chairmen and directors Avram Glazer and Joel Glazer OF Manchester United have resurfaced the discussion on seeking an alternative to ending the club’s everlasting woes. This debate resurfaces just hours after the club agreed to part ways with one of their historical goal-scorers, Cristiano Ronaldo on a mutual agreement.
“The strength of Manchester United rests on the passion and loyalty of our global community of 1.1 billion fans and followers. As we seek to continue building on the club’s history of success, the Board has authorized a thorough evaluation of strategic alternatives,” the joint statement read in part.
The statement added, “We will evaluate all options to ensure that we best serve our fans and that Manchester United maximizes the significant growth opportunities available to the club today and in the future. Throughout this process, we will remain fully focused on serving the best interests of our fans, shareholders, and various stakeholders.”
This debate last hit the streets about a year ago as the club owners felt there needs to be freshness added to the Theater of Dreams, home to the one of the most decorated clubs in the history of English football.
Since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson, their former manager about a decade ago, the club has only managed to finish second on the table and failed to take part in the Champions League football, Europe’s highest level of football competition.

United has not won the Premier League title since 2013 and has sacked a succession of managers in the aftermath of the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson.

Now, the American owners in the Glazers family are willing to listen to offers for the club after a 17-year reign dominated by fan protests and declining on-pitch performance for a club valued at around £5bn.
A Manchester United statement confirmed plans to identify “strategic alternatives” and said the process will consider several options “including new investment into the club, a sale, or other transactions involving the company.”
