Six suspects from Kampala and Jinja City who form the part of a group known as the criminal sexual network have been arrested for grooming young boys into acts of Sadomy, recruiting of Male adults into gay practices, recording of ponographic and sex videos of children.
The suspects who were arrested include, Kalungi Fabian, Kiiza Brian alias Chosen Muwera, Menya Sadat alias Sheebah, Geoffrey, Katumba Hamuza, Wasajja Shafic.
According to police spokesperson Fred Enanga, he says upon searching the home of Ibanda Geoffrey and Kiiza Brian, Tangible exhibits were recovered which included; 192 Sackets of Lubricants, shirts and stags with LGBTQ Logos, metallic banner of peace and comfort with LGBTQ flag.
It was also discovered that the suspects were sick after a thorough check up “The 6 suspects were examined and some found to be HIV positive. More medical tests are being carried out. Efforts are in place to trace for their victims, who are silent and in hiding,” Mr Enanga said.
Police also discovered that members of the criminal sex gang recorded sex videos and also streamed live sessions, which they submitted to LGBTQ donors for funding of their activities.
“These acts of sex trafficking of male juvenile is heinous and disturbing crime, which calls upon every Ugandan, to concert efforts in fighting it. Our inquiries are being extended beyond the 6 suspects, with a wider scope of safeguarding the public and any other victims of child sexual exploitation,” Mr Enanga said.
The police is however seeking more information regarding residential locations in neighborhoods, where acts of sexual trafficking and other unusual activities.
The parliament of Uganda is expected to vote on the Anti-Homosexuality Bill 2023 today and the Bill will be presented for the second and third reading by the Bugiri Municipality legislator, Mr Asuman Basalirwa.
