The Uganda Hip-hop awards 2023 happened on Friday June 23, 2023 held at the iconic Motiv in Kampala. The event has always been organized annually to celebrate the past, present and future of Hip-hop the country has to offer.
The stage was set for a night magical performances from some of the biggest names in the genre of hip-hop and other emerging artists. Among the performers were The Mith, AJ Stylz and Flex D’paper.
Babaluku added vigor to the night when he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award. In his acceptance speech he had this to say,
“You need to know that when we were coming up, we loved hip-hop before the money came; and we chose our specific paths, depending on our capabilities and capacities. Today I see a lot of you struggling to even understand the worth of your gifts.”
Hennessy the French-made cognac also joined the awards. Chief Executive of Black Showmns Beverages the official partner of Hennessy in Uganda confirmed their support for Hip-hop globally including Uganda.
